Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency informs public of right to opt out of promotional messages

DOHA, Qatar: Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has reminded the public of their right to withdraw consent to receive promotional and marketing messages.

The guidance, issued on August 24, 2026, outlines the steps individuals can take if they no longer wish to receive promotional communications from organisations.

Check Your Consent First

The agency advised individuals to first check whether they had previously provided consent to receive promotional messages from the organisation sending the communications. This can help determine whether the messages are being sent based on an earlier consent request.

Contact the Sender

If consent was provided but the individual no longer wishes to receive promotional messages, they should contact the sender directly and request that the communications be stopped.

File a Privacy Complaint

If the organisation does not respond or fails to take action, individuals can escalate the matter by submitting a complaint to the Personal Data Privacy Protection Department (PDPPD) of the NCSA.

Complaints can be submitted using the agency’s dedicated Complaints Form, which should be completed and emailed to privacy@ncsa.gov.qa.
