Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar took a phone call from the prime minister of Spain, Pedro SĂĄnchez.

The conversation covered the latest developments in the U.S.-Israel war on Iran and its impact on “maritime security in the region,” a readout from Netanyahu’s office said.
But Sánchez reiterated Spain’s backing and solidarity with Qatar in the face of continuing Iranian aggression.

SĂĄnchez and Sheikh Tamim also touched on ongoing efforts to control the situation and de-escalate tensions, including developments in Lebanon, where the importance of de-escalation and stabilisation was underlined.

The meeting also discussed the bilateral relations between Qatar and Spain, and ways to support and develop them in all fields.

It comes after Spanish Foreign Minister JosĂ© Manuel Albares spoke by phone Monday with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Albares reaffirmed his country’s support for Qatar, where Iranian assaults inside its borders as well as the broader region plagued by anti-Iranian attacks continue in the backdrop of an ongoing U.S.–Israel war on Iran.
