Education Ministry confirms resumption of in‑person learning from April 12
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has confirmed that ināperson classes and educational services will resume across nurseries, kindergartens, government schools, private schools, and educational service centers beginning Sunday, April 12, 2026.
The Ministry stated that the decision reflects the readiness of Qatarās educational infrastructure and the availability of systems capable of supporting both ināperson and distance learning. It emphasized that transitions between learning modalities are coordinated with relevant state authorities to ensure continuity of education while maintaining the highest standards of safety and security.
For government schools, the resumption will coincide with the implementation of alternative assessment measures for the second semester. Continuous assessment grades will replace midterm examinations for Grades 1 and 2, while students in Grades 3 to 11 will complete online assessments through the Qatar Education System between April 14 and April 16, with a final deadline of April 21.
Private schools will conduct internal assessments in line with their approved educational plans, while centralized examinations will be administered according to the instructions of their respective examination boards.
The Ministry reaffirmed that online assessments remain a flexible evaluation tool and do not conflict with ināperson learning. It stressed that the decision balances the continuity of the educational process with the safety of students and staff, noting that updates will be announced exclusively through official channels.
