In December 2023, Hamad, Ruwais, and Doha ports demonstrated robust performance, experiencing significant growth in cargo handling volumes compared to the previous month, as reported by Mwani Qatar.

Cargo handling witnessed a remarkable 45 percent increase in December 2023 compared to November of the same year. Notably, building materials and RORO (Roll-on/Roll-off) units exhibited growth rates of 110 percent and 47 percent, respectively, according to Mwani Qatar's statement on X platform.

The total general and bulk cargoes handled across the three ports in December 2023 reached 137,518 tonnes, showing a 45 percent monthly surge from the 94,990 tonnes recorded in November 2023.

During December 2023, the three ports welcomed 223 vessels, with containers, RORO units, livestock, and building materials accounting for 107,634 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), 8,339 units, 24,571 heads, and 49,184 tonnes, respectively.

Comparatively, in November 2023, the ports handled 94,990 tonnes of general and bulk cargoes, marking a 22 percent increase from October 2023. The containers, RORO units, livestock, and building materials during the same period amounted to 125,202 TEUs, 5,656 units, 32,150 heads, and 23,422 tonnes, respectively.

Data from Mwani Qatar's website indicates that a total of 2,546 ships called on Qatar's three ports in 2023. General cargo handled through the three ports stood at 1,634,728 tonnes, while RORO (vehicles) totaled 72,697 units. The containers reached 1,221,073 TEUs, livestock numbered 419,425 heads, and building materials amounted to 479,244 tonnes.

In 2023, Hamad Port played a crucial role by handling 1,318,414 TEUs of containers, 1,303,049 freight tonnes of break bulk, 400,478 freight tonnes of bulk, 9,301 livestock heads, and 80,294 RORO units. The port received a total of 1,655 vessels during the year.

Hamad Port continues its stride towards becoming a key regional port, aiming for a more efficient logistics services industry in Qatar and transforming into a leading global trade hub, aligning with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 for economic diversification.

Container terminals have been designed to accommodate the increasing trade volume, thereby facilitating ease of doing business and supporting the economic diversification objectives outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

QTerminals, a terminal operating company jointly established by Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) and Qatar Navigation (Milaha), reported that Hamad Port received 137 vessels in December 2023. During the same period, the containers, bulk, break bulk, and RORO handled stood at 106,603 TEUs, 31,000 F/T (freight tonnes), 101,022 F/T, and 8,310 units, respectively. In November 2023, Hamad Port received 139 vessels and handled 125,258 TEUs of containers, 88,865 freight tonnes of break bulk cargo, 5,645 RORO units, and 8,000 livestock heads.
