Qatar launches online registration for students with disabilities enrolling in public schools

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education launched an online registration service for students with disabilities via the “Ma’arif” public services portal. This was announced during a press conference hosted at the Ministry.

This new service is one of many initiatives to improve education services and on-ground systems, as well as advancements in the digital space, that better support students and parents. The ministry will work on simplifying procedures to be easy, fast and efficient in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the law of persons with disabilities. It will ensure equal education accessibility.

Provides an easy and transparent method for parents to apply online to register students with a tracking system, reducing effort but can better respond faster at meeting the needs of a student.

It'll apply to government schools that provide special education places, by location. ITS is meant for Students suffering from any special assessment need including autism, Intellectual disability, Physical disability, Hearing impairment or vision troubles along with aspects of brain injuries and developmental delays as well as Multiple disabilities.
Parents can apply by login to the “Ma’arif” portal, select the service — primary registration — and upload certain documents including birth certificate, utility bill, health assessment and a recent medical report.

Specialist teams then assess applications, with parents notified of the outcome by SMS. Once you report an approval the student is set for an assessment session to assess his/her needs and placement in the right educational environment.

The ministry noted that this digital system is a further reflection of Qatar's commitment to an inclusive education and making sure all students receive the support they need to thrive and make a positive contribution to society.
