Qatar Iran tensions
H.E.ย the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met in Doha on Thursday with H.E. the Republic of Turkiye's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.
The two sides reviewed developments regarding military escalation in the region and its dangerous consequences on regional and international security and stability, as well as ways to peacefully resolve all disputes. They also discussed ways to improve coordination to address ongoing challenges.
During the meeting, H.E. The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed his condemnation of the Iranian attacks on Qatari territories, stressing that such acts are unacceptable under any pretext or justification. He added that the State of the State of Qatar has always been interested in keeping itself away from regional strife and a cause to make room for dialogue between Iran and the international community.
His Excellency stressed that Iran's targeting of energy facilities is a flagrant violation of the principles and norms of international law as well as a grave threat to global energy security, the environment, and freedom of navigation. He stressed the necessity to spare the region the ramifications of these unwarranted attacks and for efforts to be made towards de-escalation, restoring security and stability at their regional and international level.
Together with this, His Excellency praised the fraternal ties between the two countries and their continuous consultation on several issues, especially in the area of defense cooperation and expressed his gratitude for Turkiye backing and support to Qatar as a brother country over different adversities.
For his part, H.E. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye declared his country's support for the State of Qatar, and condemned Iranian assaults on its sovereignty and territorial integrity, that are not justified at all, stressing that targeting vital infrastructure and civilian establishments is a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the principles of international law.
