Qatar Launches Second Data Summer Camp to Equip Students with AI and Data Skills

The National Planning Council (NPC), in cooperation with the Qatar Scientific Club under the Ministry of Sports and Youth and with the participation of Microsoft Qatar, has launched the second edition of the Data Summer Camp 2026.

Running from August 8 to 12, the five-day camp brings together around 40 male and female high school students for an educational programme combining theoretical learning with practical applications.

Preparing Young People for a Data-Driven Future

The camp is designed to equip students with future-focused skills in data and digital transformation while supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Participants are being introduced to the importance of data, national and open data, and Qatar's National Data Program. The initiative also encourages students to turn analytical findings into practical ideas and initiatives that could contribute to addressing national challenges.

AI, Power BI and Data Analysis

The programme covers the fundamentals of data, including processing, quality verification, analysis and extracting indicators and useful insights.

Students are also receiving practical training in designing interactive dashboards using Power BI and applying artificial intelligence techniques, helping them understand how modern digital tools can support development and data-driven decision-making.

Building a Data Culture Among Youth

Hessa Ali Al Malki, Director of the Statistical and Data Training Center at the National Planning Council, said the camp reflects the council's commitment to strengthening a culture of data among young people and preparing national talent capable of using information to support development and decision-making.

She highlighted the growing importance of data in planning and public policy, noting that the camp gives students an opportunity to learn about the National Data Program, develop analytical skills and build dashboards that transform raw information into practical insights.

Partnership Supports Science and Innovation

Data Summer Camp supervisor Eng. Hessa Al Najjar said the Qatar Scientific Club's hosting of the programme forms part of its efforts to develop young people's capabilities in science, technology and innovation.

She also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Qatar Scientific Club, the National Planning Council and Microsoft Qatar in creating interactive learning environments that keep pace with rapid developments in the digital world.

Supporting Qatar National Vision 2030

By giving secondary school students hands-on experience with data analytics, artificial intelligence and digital tools, the initiative aims to nurture a new generation capable of contributing to Qatar's knowledge-based economy and future development priorities.
