Qatar Has Updated Its Regulations For Residency And Visit Visas

Qatar revises rules governing residency and visit visas

The Ministry of Interior has updated regulations and procedures for residents sponsoring family members for visitation and residency purposes.

According to an official statement, this initiative aims to enhance service quality in line with the state's overarching approach.

The revised guidelines require families to adhere to provisions in the employee's electronic work contract regarding salary and accommodation.

For government and semi-government employees, family housing or a salary not below QAR 10,000 (supported by a contract) is necessary. Private sector employees in technical or specialized fields require a salary of QAR 10,000 or QAR 6,000 with family housing in the contract.

Additionally, children sponsored should be under 25 and unmarried. Health insurance for their entire stay is mandatory from their entry date. Children within mandatory education ages must enroll in licensed schools or provide evidence of enrollment outside Qatar, supervised by the Ministry of Education, for residence permit issuance or renewal.

For family visits, the sponsor's non-labor profession should yield a salary not less than QAR 5,000, with approved family housing. Visitors, relatives of the sponsor, require health insurance for their stay, with no age restriction specified.

These updated regulations are currently active, and the General Directorate of Passports offers services digitally through the Metrash2 app and the Ministry of Interior's official website for public convenience.
