HE Saad bin Sherida Al‑Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy, has visited the Embassy of India in Doha to personally extend condolences following the deadly explosion and fire at the Barzan Gas Plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City.
During his meeting with HE Vipul, Ambassador of the Republic of India, Al‑Kaabi conveyed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of Qatar’s energy sector to the government and people of India. He underscored that the loss of innocent lives in the incident is a tragedy that resonates across communities, expressing solidarity with the families of the victims and wishing a swift recovery for those injured.
Authorities confirmed that 12 Indian nationals were among the 13 people killed in Sunday’s explosion, which also left 66 individuals injured. While many sustained varying degrees of harm, officials noted that none of the injuries were life‑threatening.
Al‑Kaabi emphasized that QatarEnergy stands united with the Indian community during this difficult time, highlighting the shared grief felt across the energy workforce. His visit to the embassy was described as a gesture of compassion and a reaffirmation of Qatar’s commitment to supporting affected families and strengthening bilateral ties with India.
The tragedy at Ras Laffan has drawn widespread condolences from regional and international partners, reflecting the scale of the incident and its impact on expatriate communities.
