Qatar Condemns Iranian Drone Attack on Emirati Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar has strongly condemned the Iranian drone strike targeting an Emirati tanker operated by ADNOC while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing the incident as a violation of international law, maritime freedom, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
In its statement, the ministry rejected the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of pressure, stressing that freedom of navigation must be safeguarded and warning that any attempt to close the waterway would severely damage regional interests.
Qatar called for an immediate halt to unjustified Iranian attacks, reiterating its solidarity with the United Arab Emirates in protecting its assets and ensuring the safety of maritime routes. Officials emphasized that such acts undermine stability and pose serious risks to international trade and security.
