Qatar Condemns Hijacking of Oil Tanker Carrying Egyptian Sailors
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar has strongly condemned the hijacking of an oil tanker carrying Egyptian sailors from Yemeni territorial waters and its diversion toward Somali waters near the Puntland region.
The ministry described the act as a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to maritime navigation and global trade routes, warning that such incidents undermine regional and international stability.
Qatar affirmed its full solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the families of the sailors, stressing the importance of ensuring their safety, security, and immediate release.
The statement further called for concerted international efforts to safeguard maritime navigation and uphold freedom of passage in international waterways, emphasizing that these principles are fundamental pillars of regional and global security.
