Qatar Charity, Morocco's Ibn Sina University Hospital Center sign deal to support children with cong

DOHA — Qatar Charity has signed a framework cooperation agreement with Morocco's Ibn Sina University Hospital Center to support life-saving treatment for children born with congenital heart defects, the organisation announced Sunday.

The agreement is intended to widen access to specialised medical care for affected children, improving their health and long-term quality of life, Qatar Charity said in a statement.

Support under the deal will focus on interventional cardiac catheterisation, a highly specialised procedure that can correct certain heart defects without open-heart surgery. The technique reduces surgical risk, speeds recovery and improves patients' long-term quality of life.

Because such procedures rely on advanced equipment and specialised expertise, they are costly and often out of reach for low-income families, Qatar Charity noted. The partnership, it said, carries significant humanitarian value by easing that burden — enabling children from underprivileged families to receive high-quality catheterisation care while strengthening the hospital's capacity to manage complex cases.

Qatar Charity said the agreement reflects its strategy, delivered through its office in Morocco, of building effective institutional partnerships across the health sector.

As one of Morocco's leading university healthcare institutions, Ibn Sina University Hospital Center brings specialised expertise and advanced capabilities in treating complex medical cases, making the partnership a key step in strengthening paediatric cardiac care, the organisation added.
