QF Earthna Centre Gathers Global Experts to Discuss Sustainable Development

The Earthna Centre for a Sustainable Future, a member of the Qatar Foundation, organized a comprehensive program in Doha from March 3-6 to promote collaboration and action on sustainable development in hot and arid cities.

The initiative involved discussions, workshops, and networking sessions for global thought leaders and local stakeholders. Activities included a Speaker Series in collaboration with Qatar Museums, sessions at VCUarts Qatar's Tasmeem Doha 2024, and an opening keynote at the International Association of Horticultural Producers' Green City Conference at Expo 2023.

Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, Executive Director at Earthna, emphasized the importance of elevating hot and arid cities in global discussions and highlighted the need for tailored local initiatives. He emphasized that international collaboration is crucial to address shared environmental concerns effectively.

Sebastien Turbot, Director of Content Development at Earthna, stressed the significance of urban design, particularly placemaking, in creating resilient spaces for arid cities. He noted that collaboration among stakeholders and understanding local challenges are essential for sustainable development.

The events aimed to enhance innovative placemaking strategies in Doha and similar cities, aligning with Earthna's broader efforts to recommend policies and campaigns for long-term sustainable urban growth and climate change adaptation.
