In a related development, His Excellency Mr Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, the Minister of Public Health has issued a circular allowing residents to use the valid health identification (national ID card) instead of using their health card for accessing services at Hamad Medical Corporation, the Primary Health Care Corporation and other facilities throughout Qatar's health sector.

The previous approval of fees for the health card and its yearly renewal, it added, is still applicable to residents. It is used to cross check with the health number through systems when a resident shows his/her national ID (QID) card; in order to ensure that they receive the healthcare services they need.

Health cards: So the Minister of Health issued Circular No. (10) for the year 2026, which states to stop printing health cards for residents.

In September 2025, the Ministry announced that based on a decision by the Minister of Public Health No.650 of 2023, effective from January 1 this year..the health card will be replaced for Qatari citizens only with the national ID (QID) card at no charge.

The ministry urged citizens and residents to carry their QID cards while going for a visit.

This move is part of the Ministry's efforts to streamline administrative processes and unify government entities' official documents, as well as improve patient experience.
