PV Sindhu Creates History, Becomes First Indian to Win the Japan Open

P.V. Sindhu delivered one of her most commanding performances in recent years, defeating former world champion Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-17 to capture her maiden Super 750 crown at the Japan Open. The victory not only ended her long wait for a major BWF World Tour title but also made her the first Indian ever to win the prestigious tournament.

The final showcased Sindhu’s trademark aggression and composure. She matched Yamaguchi in the early rallies before unleashing powerful smashes and sharp net play to secure the opening game.
