More than 1,000 Indian nationals who had been stranded in Doha for three days were evacuated with assistance from the Indian Embassy in Qatar and Qatar Airways, authorities said Monday.

The Embassy of India in Doha said in a statement it shared on the social media platform X that about 300 passengers were flown out from the city by Qatar Airways to New Delhi on Monday. Over the past three days, nearly 1,000 Indians in Doha for transit, short-term visits have been repatriated on flights of Qatar Airways, Indian embassy sources said.

The embassy also noted a humanitarian initiative in collaboration with the airline when it rendered assistance for the emergency repatriation of mortal remains of an Indian national who passed away due to natural causes. The deceased were also supported to return back home. Officials thanked Indian volunteers in Qatar who helped the affected family navigate the process.

Qatar Airways will operate three extra flights on 10 March to New Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. The embassy has urged any stranded passengers to take advantage of these flights to return to India.

The embassy advised that travellers who possess valid Saudi visas would still be able to enter the country from their Salwa border. Several Indian nationals have already used this route to travel onwards and board flights back to India.
