The Qatar National Day Organizing Committee announced the launch of the "Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust" event, based on the vision of Qatar National Day which features enhancement of loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the Qatari national identity, and the emphasizing of the values of the Committee, which include participation, inspiration, creativity and transparency.

The "Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust" event, which is held in cooperation with the Friends of the Environment Center, is an environmental event open to all school students in Qatar from the fifth and sixth grades in the primary stage. It includes specific environmental areas with each school having an environmental initiator, who will direct and supervise his team.

This event will bring together environmental initiators and young people to provide them with environmental skills and behavior to protect and preserve the environment, and guide them to use and exploit natural resources, with the aim of consolidating the concept of environmental sustainability and to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030, in relation to the fourth pillar which is related to the environment, as well as to enhance the Qatari national identity through preserving the teachings of our true Islamic religion as well as Qatari customs and traditions.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee held today an introductory meeting for schools on the "Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust" as part of the preparations of the Organizing Committee for Qatar National Day 2021 Celebrations, which will be held this year under the slogan "Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust", derived from one of the poetic verses of the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, May the Almighty Allah Rest his Soul in Peace.

The slogan reflects the aspirations of the National Day towards extended influence, rather than a short lived excitement, highlighting the role of national symbols, and influencing members of society by focusing on their principles and values.

For his part, Farhoud Al Hajri, Director of the Friends of the Environment Center and head of the "Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust" event, said that the introductory meeting for the event featured a presentation on the event, and the criteria that will be applied to it, pointing out that the event will be dedicated to schools, in the fields of agriculture and recycling. He explained that each school will have a team of three to five students, and in the first phase, eight schools will be selected for boys, and the same number for girls, and after the preliminary eliminations, three schools will be selected from each category, so that there will be six schools in the event, provided that prizes will be allocated to students and supervisors, while all forms of support to the six qualified schools will be provided.

Meanwhile, Samira Al Yazidi, Head of the Education Sector of the Organizing Committee of Qatar National Day Celebrations, said that the introductory meeting featured the attendance of the participating schools to get familiarized with the mechanism of the event, how to select students, and the event's general objective, which reflects the interest and passion of our Qatari children for the environment through their initiatives that they present in the different areas of environment.

She added that the event will bring together environmental initiators and young people, with the aim of instilling the concept of shouldering the trust between generations, by providing them with environmental skills and behavior, with the aim of protecting and preserving the environment, and guiding them to use and exploit natural resources, generation after generation, in order to consolidate the concept of environmental sustainability, and to achieve the vision of Qatar 2030, specifically with regard to the fourth pillar, which is related to the environment.
