Doha: In celebration of the International Womenā€™s Day on March 8, this weekā€™s Drive-in cinema theme is ā€œFearless Female Seriesā€ which features outstanding female leads.

Doha Film Institute (DFI) and Qatar Tourism will screen Brave, Little Women and The Hunger Games on March 10, 11 and 12 respectively at 7pm. Ticket is priced at QR100 and can be purchased via DFIā€™s website.

Brave is a story about Merida, the impetuous but courageous daughter of Scottish King Fergus and Queen Elinor, is a skilled archer who wants to carve out her own path in life. Her defiance of an age-old tradition angers the Highland lords and leads to chaos in the kingdom. Merida seeks help from an eccentric witch, who grants her an ill-fated wish. Now, Merida must discover the true meaning of courage and undo a beastly curse before itā€™s too late.

Little Women, meanwhile is a 2019 American coming-of-age period drama film written and directed by Greta Gerwig. In the years after the Civil War, Jo March lives in New York and makes her living as a writer, while her sister Amy studies painting in Paris. Amy has a chance encounter with Theodore, a childhood crush who proposed to Jo but was ultimately rejected. Their oldest sibling, Meg, is married to a schoolteacher, while shy sister Beth develops a devastating illness that brings the family back together.

And The Hunger Games is a 2012 American movie. In what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every citizen must watch as the youths fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she must weigh survival against love.
