Indian expat electrocuted in Doha by short circuit in water heater

The victim, a woman, was found lying on the bathroom floor.

An Indian expatriate hailing from Nadapuram in Kozhikode, India was found lying on the bathroom floor and electrocuted to death at her residence in Ain Khalid, Doha, Qatar. at 9pm on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Lafseena Zubair, 28, daughter of Chennat Zubair and Khamar Leila. Her family suspects that the incident was caused by a short circuit from a water heater in the bathroom.

The family contacted the police when Lafsina did not respond to calls from her husband, who is a businessman, for a long time.

The initial investigation suggests that she was electrocuted while using the water heater in the bathroom. She was found dead after failing to respond to the queries of the family.

Later, the body was shifted to the mortuary in Hamad Hospital. A detailed investigation into the incident is underway. 

Lafsina hails from Vanimel village in Kozhikode district of Kerala. She was living in Qatar with her her husband M Saheer, and three children – Adan Muhammad, Aida Khadija and Aidin Usman.

Her husband alerted his relatives who were staying on the first floor of the same villa who rushed downstairs and found the bathroom locked.

Lafsina was reportedly found lying on the floor when the police broke open the door.

The body is lying in the mortuary at Hamad General Hospital and the police are conducting an investigation.

The body will be taken to India for burial, her relatives have said.

Her accidental death created a shock in the community. Many people expressed dismay on social media about her passing. Several have warned residents about the dangers of electric shock from water heaters and urged everyone to be careful.
