Indian Expat Killed in Dubai Car Showroom Explosion Identified

Dubai: The man who lost his life in the gas cylinder explosion at a luxury car showroom in Dubai has been identified as 27-year-old Indian expatriate Shijin Paul, who hailed from Kottarakkara in Kerala's Kollam district, according to the Consulate General of India in Dubai. 

The explosion occurred on Monday at a car showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, killing one person and injuring five others. Dubai Civil Defence teams responded swiftly, bringing the situation under control, securing the site and providing medical assistance to the injured. 

The Indian Consulate confirmed the victim's identity and said it is in contact with the bereaved family as well as UAE authorities to provide all necessary assistance and facilitate the required formalities. 

According to family members and colleagues, Shijin had moved to Dubai around eight months ago and was working as a multimedia marketing specialist, handling social media and videography for the showroom. He had married in 2025 and had planned to bring his wife to the UAE in the near future. 

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. Forensic teams continue to examine the site, while the showroom remains closed during the ongoing inquiry. Emergency personnel have completed safety inspections and secured the affected premises. 

The tragic incident has prompted an outpouring of condolences from the Indian community in the UAE, with friends and colleagues remembering Shijin as a dedicated professional and a warm, cheerful individual. The Indian Consulate reiterated its commitment to supporting the family throughout the repatriation process and other official procedures.
