Qatar Museums has unveiled the lineup of designers and exhibitions for the inaugural edition of DesignDoha. Taking place from February 24 to August 5, this new Design Biennial will shine a spotlight on over 100 Middle Eastern and North African designers. The announcement highlights six exhibitions kicking off during the first week, showcasing innovation within Qatar and the wider region.

At the heart of the program is "Arab Design Now," a comprehensive survey featuring more than 70 Arab designers and 38 commissioned works. Curated by Rana Beiruti, the founder of Amman Design Week, this exhibition will be hosted at M7, Doha's hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, fashion, and design. It delves into the unique geographies and cultural values of the Levant, the Gulf, and North Africa, emphasizing design sentiments, aesthetics, and concerns from these regions.

"Arab Design Now" presents a diverse array of designers, including Elias and Yousef Anastas, Basma Hamdy, Levi Hammett, and many others. It explores themes of environmental sustainability while blending traditional and modern design techniques. In addition to "Arab Design Now," the inaugural DesignDoha will feature five more exhibitions: "Colors of the City: A Century of Architecture in Doha," "Weaving Poems," "100/100 HUNDRED BEST ARABIC POSTERS Round 04," and "Cultural Kinship."

Each exhibition offers a unique perspective, from tracing the evolution of Doha's architecture to celebrating Arabic graphic design and Uzbek traditional craft practices. Together, these exhibitions solidify DesignDoha's role as a vital platform for fostering innovation, creativity, and dialogue within the design community, both locally and internationally.
