Bayern Munich in action against Schalke

Berlin | September 05, 2026 – Bayern Munich were held to a goalless draw by hosts Schalke in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday, in the second round of the German top flight.

Bayern Munich Fail to Find the Net

The reigning champions were unable to break through Schalke's defense throughout the match, with both sides sharing the points. The result saw the Bavarian giants slip from the top of the table following other results from the round.

Bayern Munich now sit on four points in fourth place, while Schalke picked up their first point since returning to the Bundesliga, sitting 14th on goal difference, just behind Eintracht Frankfurt, Mainz, and Paderborn.

Dortmund, Freiburg Maintain Winning Starts

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat hosts Hoffenheim 3-2, securing their second consecutive win and joining Freiburg and Werder Bremen at the top of the table with six points each.

Freiburg kept up their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 win away at Paderborn.

Bremen, Leverkusen Also Among the Winners

Werder Bremen came from behind to defeat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-3, securing their second win of the season, while also picking up a 3-1 win over Leipzig.

Bayer Leverkusen, the 2024 champions, claimed their first win of the season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Union Berlin.
