The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' announced today that it will implement a temporary closure of traffic on a number of roads and bridges and tunnels in coordination with the General Directorate Traffic.

This will be done with the objective of conducting maintenance works and upgrading infrastructure, while offering alternative routes in order to keep the traffic flowing.

Dukhan Road Tunnel: Ashghal temporarily closes Dukhan Road tunnel for traffic coming from New Al Rayyan Street via Bani Hajer Interchange, 8 hours on Friday, 29 May 2026 (02:00 AM to 10:00 AM)

As an alternate source to be used by road users coming from New Al Rayyan Street towards Dukhan, the statement includes that during the closure these road users are advised to use Gharafat Al Rayyan Interchange.

This will include a temporary closure of the U-turn on Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor at Umm Lekhba Interchange for southbound traffic from Hamad International Airport, starting on Tuesday 2/6/2026 until Friday 12/06.

Motorists are advised to take the nearby alternative routes.

That and a temporary night closure of the bridge joining New Al Hateem Street and Al Gaabiyah Street in Al Gharrafa inbound, from Monday, 1st June 2026 until Saturday, 20th June 2026, daily between 12:30am and 5am.

Drivers arriving from Al Gaabiyah Street should immediately make a right onto Al Gharrafa Street, perform a U-turn at Al Duhail Intersection and drive straight on with Al Gharrafa Street, then turning right onto New Al Hittim Street to access their destination.

In addition, Ashghal reported that Bani Hajer Interchange will be completely closed in the direction of vehicles coming from Khalifa Boulevard towards Al Shahama Street.
The closures will happen at different times throughout the Sunday 31 May 2026 up to Tuesday, 9 June 2026 period in various night and morning hours.

Motorists coming from Doha via Khalifa Street heading towards Bani Hajer should take the bridge leading onto the New Al Rayyan Street and make a U-turn at the Al Shafi Interchange, followed by utilising the Bani Hajer Tunnel to reach their destinations.

Ashghal has called on all road users to adhere to speed limits and traffic signs moving forward for everyone's safety on the roads.
