Arab League Condemns Renewed Iranian Attacks on UAE and Jordan

CAIRO, August 31, 2026: The Arab League has strongly condemned renewed Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, describing them as a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries.

In a statement, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy categorically rejected the attacks and said they constituted a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Arab League Rejects Attacks on Arab States

Fahmy stressed that targeting the security or territory of any Arab state, under any pretext, is completely unacceptable.

He said the security of Arab states must be respected and protected, warning against actions that threaten sovereignty and territorial integrity or deepen instability in the region.

Full Solidarity With UAE and Jordan

The Arab League Secretary-General expressed full solidarity with the UAE and Jordan and voiced support for the measures taken by both countries to safeguard their security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He affirmed that the security of the UAE and Jordan forms an integral part of broader Arab national security.

Iran Urged to Respect Arab Sovereignty

Fahmy rejected Iran’s justifications for attacks on Arab states and called on Tehran to respect the sovereignty of countries in the region.

He stressed that preserving regional security and stability requires strict adherence to international law, prioritising dialogue and responsible conduct, and avoiding actions that could widen the current escalation.

Call to Prevent Wider Regional Escalation

The Arab League warned that further escalation could endanger regional security and the interests of people across the Middle East.

The organisation reiterated the importance of restraint, respect for international legal obligations and diplomatic engagement as the appropriate path to preventing additional instability and protecting regional peace and security.
