DUBAI — July 10, 2026 — Dubai's Al Freej Fridge campaign is back for its third year running. Organizers aim to hand out 2 million cold drinks and treats to workers. Ferjan Dubai runs the initiative with support from Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. The campaign continues until September 3.
Reaching Workers Across Dubai's Toughest Job Sites
This campaign targets roughly 1 million outdoor workers across the emirate. That group includes cleaners, construction crews, delivery riders, and landscaping staff. Four refrigerated vans will crisscross the city during two daily shifts. Emirati volunteers will hand out supplies at worksites and worker accommodations directly.
Volunteers will focus on high traffic zones like Jebel Ali and Al Quoz. Al Warqa and Al Barsha also made the list this year. Organizers chose these areas after studying worker density across Dubai. This year's volunteer team has grown to more than 200 Emiratis. That number nearly doubles last year's volunteer base.
A Campaign Built On Strong Local Partnerships
Several organizations support Ferjan Dubai and MBRGI on this campaign. The UAE Water Aid Foundation, known as Suqia, supplies large volumes of cold water. The UAE Food Bank provides warehouse space for storing drinks and frozen treats. It also supplies refrigerated vehicles to keep deliveries safe and on schedule.
Ibrahim Al Balooshi, Director of Sustainability and Partnerships at MBRGI, praised the campaign's mission. He said it reflects deep appreciation for workers who keep Dubai running each summer. He added that protecting their health remains central to the entire effort.
Alia Al Shamlan, Director of Ferjan Dubai, said this year builds on strong past momentum. She credited close teamwork between Ferjan Dubai and its partners for the campaign's growth.
Two Years Of Growing Impact
Al Freej Fridge launched in the summer of 2024 with 1 million drinks. Its second year grew significantly, drawing support from over 15 organizations. Around 250 volunteers helped distribute 2 million drinks and treats that year.
Organizers say the campaign means more than simple hydration support. By recognizing outdoor workers directly, it aims to build a culture of solidarity. Many of these workers go unnoticed during the harshest weeks of summer. This campaign hopes to change that, one cold drink at a time.
