Mosques in Qatar

In Qatar, there is an abundance of mosques. Let us explore a few of the most exquisite mosques this nation has to offer.

Doha Airport Mosque

With its contemporary design, the Doha Airport Mosque is a stunning piece of architecture. The principal features of the mosque are its tall minaret and expansive glass-domed prayer hall. The masjid's exterior and interior are both exquisite. It is filled with calligraphy around the top.
The mosque is particularly distinctive because its whole roof is designed like a dome. Another salient feature of the dome is that it’s made of glass and has an elegant circular pattern that looks like a flower.

Fanar, Qatar Islamic Cultural Centre

One of Qatar's most distinctive landmarks, Fanar, the Qatar Islamic Cultural Center, was constructed as a recreation of the Great Mosque of Al-Mutawwakil in Samarra, Iraq. Its stunning spiral minaret protrudes from its surroundings. The mosque, which is part of a cultural center with a library, is the ideal place to go if you want to learn more about Islamic culture. The mosque is conveniently close to several well-known locations, such as Souq Waqif, Msheireb Downtown Doha, and the Doha Corniche, all within a short stroll.

Katara Mosque

The Katara Mosque, which is centrally located in Katara Cultural Village, is a breathtaking sight thanks to the glittering mosaic tiles that cover its outer walls in shades of purple and turquoise. Designed by renowned architect Zainab Fadil Oglu, the mosque's interior is equally stunning. It features vivid patterns, a central chandelier that complements the building's exterior, and a light-filled ambiance. With plenty of restaurants, a promenade, concert halls, art galleries, and running and cycling paths in the surrounding verdant Katara Hills, Katara Cultural Village is an ideal family destination.

Education City Mosque

Among the mosques in Qatar that emphasize community the most is the striking Education City Mosque. It seeks to be more than just a house of prayer and holds several educational programs for people interested in learning more about the religion. It also functions as a community mosque for the Al Rayaan neighborhood. Situated on five massive columns, each symbolizing one of the five pillars of Islam, the Education City Mosque is housed in the protruding spires of the Minaretein building.
