Qatar Sends 180 Athletes to Hangzhou Asian Games

Doha, Qatar's Olympic Committee has announced that a team of 180 athletes will represent Qatar in the 19th Asian Games, taking place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23rd to October 8th.

These athletes will compete in a wide range of sports, including shooting, athletics, basketball, boxing, chess, cycling, esports, equestrian, football, fencing, gymnastics, golf, handball, Juji karate, sailing, squash, swimming, tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, table tennis, volleyball, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, weightlifting, and archery.

The Qatar beach volleyball team will begin their campaign on September 19, four days before the opening ceremony. The Qatar football and volleyball teams will start competing on September 20.

In handball, Qatar is the defending champion, and they will start their campaign on September 24. Qatar won the gold medal in men's handball at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, and defended their title in Jakarta-Palembang in 2018.

The Qatar Olympic Committee is optimistic about Team Qatar's performance at the Hangzhou Asian Games and is committed to supporting its athletes. The committee is also focused on preparing for the Doha 2030 Asian Games.

The Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee expressed confidence in the success of the 19th Asian Games and praised China's organizational expertise, citing their experience in hosting major sports events, including the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

At the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang, Team Qatar won a total of 13 medals, including 6 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals, in various sports such as athletics, weightlifting, beach volleyball, handball, and shooting.
