As the total coronavirus tally in the world nears 33 million, an analysis of worldwide pandemic data indicated that every 250th person on earth is now infected by Covid-19. As of September 2020, the world’s total population stood at 7.8 billion, according to an estimate by the United Nations.

A report by Tass news agency released during the weekend showed that that 37,000 novel coronavirus cases deaths were reported in the last seven days, taking the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 9,83,000.

Data from the Johns Hopkins University show that the US has the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 7,032,524 and 2,03,657 respectively.

On Monday, India’s Covid-19 tally crossed 60 lakh with over 82,000 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. It may be noted that over 50 lakh people have recovered in the country, taking the recovery rate beyond 82% — the highest among several other nations which have been severely affected by the raging pandemic.

While the health ministry indicated that India has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world, more than 1,000 people are dying every day due to Covid-19. The pandemic has led to over 95,000 casualties in India.
