Two Meteor Showers to be over Qatar Sky this month

During November every year the residents of Northern Hemisphere including Qatar resident have a good chance to seeing and observing two meteor showers "Taurid & Leonid" at different times during November, 2019. Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced.

Astronomer expert at (QCH) Dr. Beshir Marzouk said the first meteor shower will be seen over Qatar sky during November called "Taurid meteor shower"; where it usually active from October 20, till December 10, every year, while its peak will be from the evening of Tuesday, November 12, 2019, till dawn of Wednesday, November 13. Moreover, the average rate of showers flow will be around 12 Taurid meteors per hour.

Generally, the meteor shower observation not need to astronomical telescopes, so we can see it with naked eye from darker places, and places without light and environment pollutions (pure sky).

 For more information, Taurid meteor is created by debris from "Encke Comet"; where the Earth passes through the dust and debris it leaves behind during November every year.

 

Dr. Marzouk added the second meteor shower will be seen over Qatar sky during this month called "Leonid meteor shower", where its peak will be from the evening of Sunday, November 17, 2019, till dawn of Monday, November 18.

The Tempel-Tuttle Comet is creating Leonid meteor every year; where Earth passes through the dust and debris it leaves behind every year. Moreover, the average shower can catch at its peak will be about 40 Leonid meteors per hour according to astronomer experts on meteors shower observations.

The observation of Taurid & Leonid meteor showers this year will be difficult because the Moon will be on sky most of nights during the peak of two meteor showers, so the Moon light will be effect on meteor shower observations.
