QRCS recognized as one of Qatar’s top supportive organizations in COVID-19 crisis

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has been announced by Ipsos, the world’s third largest research agency, as one of 10 Qatari organizations that proved most supportive in dealing with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The French market research and consulting firm has recently conducted a series of in-depth studies to understand how the Coronavirus outbreak impacted the attitudes, behaviors, and future expectations of consumers and global markets.

In the MENA region, eight countries, including Qatar, were selected to track public sentiment and behavior in light of the Coronavirus outbreak.

 

 

 

Through online interviews, Ipsos asked nationals and residents of Qatar which companies they thought have best participated in supporting the country during the current COVID-19 crisis.

The top 10 choices were as follows (in an alphabetical order): Al-Meera, Doha Bank, Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), ooredoo, Qatar Airways, Qatar Charity (QC), Qatar Foundation (QF), Qatar National Bank (QNB), Qatar Petroleum (QP), and QRCS.

According to the report, QRCS’s successful Coronavirus control efforts were spotlighted in many research studies by Ipsos and other multinational firms concerned with the pandemic.

The surveys focused on eight criteria: (1) positively addressing public fears and concerns; (2) attitudes towards government, media, and health organizations; (3) counter measures; (4) changes in lifestyles and social behaviors; (5) reduction of impact on citizens; (6) changes in purchase and shopping habits; (7) consumers’ expectations from companies; and (8) short-term and long-term outcomes.

Within its public information strategy, QRCS launched a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about protective measures, including lectures, social media messages, and mass media materials.

Over 18,000 volunteers were deployed to take part in helping others. They can be found at shopping malls, giving guidance and advise to the consumers as regards wearing masks and gloves and maintaining social distancing. Some of them are currently engaged in managing quarantine facilities, distributing masks and gloves to the public, and disinfecting streets and districts.

Under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, QRCS operates quarantine facilities, health centers, and ambulance services, all contributing to the Coronavirus combating efforts.

Over the holy month of Ramadan, QRCS distributed as many as 100,000 food baskets to vulnerable families, in order to mitigate the impact of lockdown. Medical and hygiene supplies were also donated to health facilities, including masks and sanitizers.

With its professionally developed and implemented strategy, QRCS has contingency plans to deal effectively with the Coronavirus crisis, taking all possible scenarios into consideration to mobilize resources and ensure sustainability.
