Qatar's Amir receives COVID-19 vaccine today

The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine today at a centre in the capital Doha.

“Today I took the Covid-19 vaccine, and I wish everyone safety and protection from this epidemic,” the Qatar leader posted on his Instagram account.

 

The vaccination programme was initiated on December 23 with priority given to the elderly, those with chronic illnesses ands heath careworkers.

It is being administered at seven designated PHCC Health Centres - Al Wajbah, Leabaib, Al Ruwais, Umm Salal, Rawdat Al Khail, Al Thumama and Muaither. 

Several senior officials and frontliners have been receiving the vaccine as part of the first phase of  vaccination campaign.
