In this context, he also noted that United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) praised Qatar's remote training course related to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. This online course is the first of its kind to be held during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

In his speech on the occasion of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer (celebrate on 16 September), H.E. stated that, based on Qatar's belief in the significance of joining the international community in exerting efforts aimed at preserving the environment in general and protecting the ozone layer in particular, Qatar is a member in the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and its amendments. Such participations enabled the State to benefit from technical and knowledge tools that ensure that Qatar would keep pace with developments in this area.

The International Ozone Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is observed this year under the slogan "Ozone for Life". This year's celebration marks the 35th anniversary of international community recognition of the significance of joining forces together to take measures that would protect the ozone layer, in addition to protecting the environment from the consequences that may arise from adversely influencing the Ozone layer.

Additionally, H.E. the Minister of MME stated that the efforts of the international community have been reflected in the creation of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and its subsequent protocols, such as the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. These efforts aim mainly to protecting health systems as well as ecosystems by preserving the Ozone layer which in turn protects the planet from the sun's harmful rays.

H.E. noted that the MME bets on the awareness of the State's various sectors regarding the great role they would play and the contribution they would make to protect the Ozone layer, by adopting eco-friendly alternatives and technologies that would not harm the ozone layer, in addition to implementing national and regional legislation in this regard. State sectors should be fully aware that the State Qatar is an integral part of the international system, and that any efforts exerted at the national level would constitute a milestone in international efforts aimed at protecting the Ozone layer.
