Qatar Participates in Meeting of Asian Group of OPCW Members

The State of Qatar participated Tuesday in the virtual meeting of the Ambassadors of the Asian group of members of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is the implementing body for the Chemical Weapons Convention, which entered into force on 29 April 1997. The OPCW, with its 193 Member States, oversees the global endeavour to permanently and verifiably eliminate chemical weapons.

The State of Qatar was represented in the meeting by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the OPCW Abdullah bin Hussein Al Jaber.


The meeting focused on coordinating the positions of the member countries regarding the topics that will be on the agenda of the OPCW's Conference of the States Parties, set to take place at the end of the month.
