3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum next to Khalifa International Stadium will be opening in two phases in 2021.

HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums shared on her social media accounts after her visit to the museum, that the museum will open its doors in July, which is the time that Tokyo Olympics are taking place, and then the second phase will start in October around the time for the Arab Cup 2021 which will be held in none other than Qatar. She added “Sports has become an essential part of our life, whether we play for fun or professionally. Qatar continues to host many world-class events and annual events - it is our responsibility to make sure that our children and community start living healthy and active lives from a young age. I look forward to seeing this museum join the Olympic Museums Network soon."

This museum will exhibit the strong link between Qatar and sports. It will do so by having interactive exhibits, areas designated for unique activities, and inspiring objects.

The aim of this museum is not only to show people the manifestation of sports in Qatar, but also to inspire them to take part in sports and physical activities, and to educate them about the origins of global Olympic and Qatari sports and how that is incorporated in Qatar’s development.

Once the museum is opened, it will join a series of QM supported museums and institutions encouraging audience living in and visiting Qatar.
