Qatar, European Aviation Safety Agency sign pact on cooperation, exchange of information

Qatar has signed an agreement with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on the collection and exchange of information on civil aviation safety in accordance with the EU Ramp Inspection Programme.

The agreement was signed by Chairman of Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Abdulla bin Nasser Turki al Subaey and EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky in the presence of Minister of Transport and Communications HE Jassim bin Saif al Sulaiti on Tuesday.

Under the agreement, the CAA is joining the EU Ramp Inspection Programme.
The agreement will also boost cooperation and exchange of information between CAA and EASA, in addition to possible exchange of the programme database between the two sides.


The agreement will enhance Qatar’s cooperation with international organisations with extensive experience in aviation safety, thereby helping develop Qatar’s civil aviation industry.

Qatar is a pioneer in civil aviation safety and the first to have scored 91.16 percent in the overall audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on all aspects of air safety in its civil aviation system.
Following the signing ceremony, the minister held a meeting with Ky to review the means to enhancing cooperation with the agency and discuss latest developments relating to civil aviation safety in the region and best practices for maintaining environmental integrity.
