Qatar delivers medical assistance to Somalia to help the country fight Covid-19

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) announced today the arrival of the urgent aid shipment to Somalia by Emiri Air Force plane to help the Somali people fight the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

The State of Qatar, represented by the QFFD, abd in cooperation with the Amiri Air Force fleet, sent a shipment of urgent medical aid today to the Federal Republic of Somalia. This is in line with the country's efforts to support Somalia in the virus prevention.

According to QFFD, 10 tons of medical equipment and supplies, including masks and personal protective equipment for medical personnel, were transported by the Amiri Air Force.





The authority's Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari said that the QFFD will always stand with the Somali people during this crisis through humanitarian assistance and support in development projects.

He added that the organization aided the country during the floods that happened late last year. It has also provided financial and medical assistance for the victims of the recent Mogadishu bombings. The injured were transported to Doha for treatment.

QFFD has various development projects in Somalia, such as the Mogadishu-Jowhar Road project valued at $165 million.
