Paraguay President Thanks Qatar Amir for 400,000 Covid-19 Vaccine Donation

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a phone call yesterday evening from President of the Republic of Paraguay H E Mario Abdo Benitez.

During the call, they reviewed the efforts of the two countries in combating the (COVID-19) pandemic, and in this regard, the President of Paraguay thanked H H the Amir for the medical aid provided by the State of Qatar to Paraguay.

During the call, they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them in various fields, as well as issues of common concern. 

President of the Republic of Paraguay H E Mario Abdo Benitez thanked Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for the support of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Paraguay.

In a statement, H E indicated that the first batch of Moderna’s anti-coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine had arrived, which amounted to 99,600 vaccines out of 400,000 vaccines provided as a donation from the State of Qatar to the Republic of Paraguay.

 

A plane carrying Moderna anti-COVID-19 vaccines arrived at Asuncion Airport from the State of Qatar to the Republic of Paraguay, and was received by Minister of Foreign Relations H E Euclides Acevedo, Minister of Health and Social Welfare H E Julio Borba, and Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic for Strategic Affairs in the Republic of Paraguay H E Federico Gonzalez, and the Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Paraguay Saeed bin Hamad Al Marri. 

During the ceremony for the arrival of the vaccines, Minister of Foreign Relations Euclides Acevedo, thanked the government and people of the State of Qatar for this donation, and considered it a translation of the close brotherly relations that unite the two countries. He praised the role of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Paraguay and its constant endeavor to strengthen these distinguished relations.

Minister of Health and Social Welfare Julio Borba, also thanked the State of Qatar for its valuable donation, and said the first batch of Moderna’s anti-coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine arrives in Paraguay, which is in dire need, as a result of the difficult health crisis it is experiencing.

For his part, Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic for Strategic Affairs in the Republic of Paraguay Federico Gonzalez stressed the depth of the distinguished relations between Qatar and Paraguay. He noted the friendship between H H the Amir and HE the President of the Republic of Paraguay.

For his part, the Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Paraguay Saeed bin Hamad Al Marri praised the distinguished and strong relations that unite the State of Qatar and the Republic of Paraguay, and said that the State of Qatar was and still the first to stand by friendly countries, especially during difficult circumstances, and expressed hope that health conditions would improve in the future.
