MoI calls on all people in Qatar to stay at home during Eid holidays

All citizens and expatriates in Qatar have been urged by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to stay at home during the vacations of Eid Al Fitr, in compliance with the preventive and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of the Public Relations Department at the MoI, “We citizens and expatriates should shoulder the collective responsibility to curb the spread of the coronavirus by suspending family visits and social gatherings during Eid holidays,” said Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah while talking to Qatar TV.

He stated that the police patrolling from Traffic Department, Lekhwiya and other security agencies of Al Shamal, Janoub and Al Rayan will be stationed at different places to educate people about the government decisions and enforce it to contain virus transmission. He advised the people in Qatar to call on 999 to inform about the gathering and other violations of the state preventive measures.

 

 

 

Al Muftah confirmed that the children are considered among the passengers in vehicles as the responsibility is collective so the children should not go out except in case of utmost need. He added that as per the preventive measures, not going out of home is required at present and throughout the Eid Al Fitr holidays.

The Director stressed that the preventive and precautionary measures are implemented to protect the community from the infection of COVID-19,” said Al Muftah. He said that under the preventive measures, decisions were issued to suspend some least necessary commercial activities to stop the people from going out of the homes except in case of utmost need during Eid Al Fitr period.

He further disclosed that it is the collective responsibility of all people to adhere strictly to the preventive and precautionary measure to curb the virus spread, the violation from any individual will affect negatively on the efforts.

He emphasized the importance of social distancing, suspension of visits and social gathering during the Eid Al Fitr vacations to eliminate virus transmission.
