Starting today, Thursday, April 8, the Ministry of Public Health has agreed to converge the cost of a Coronavirus (Covid-19) test in private health facilities.

The Ministry reported that private health facilities would be charged a flat rate of QR300 for Covid-19 research.

This decision comes after Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) announced that it would temporarily stop providing COVID-19 PCR swabs to people traveling overseas.

This decision was made to ease pressure on PHCC teams and enable them to concentrate on delivering care to people who have COVID-19 and others who are getting vaccinated.

The Director of the Health Facilities Licensing and Accreditation Department, Noura Abdullah Al Mulla, stated that standardizing the price of swabs would alleviate health care staff and that the Ministry will track private health care facilities' contribution to the single price of swabs.

She further praised the great cooperation of private health care facilities, which are an essential partner of the public health sector, and play an important role in supporting its efforts, especially in the period of facing the (Covid-19) pandemic.

The Ministry had earlier announced 44 health facilities that had been approved by the Ministry to carry out swabs for Coronavirus (Covid-19).
