Healthcare Heroes: It's time to say THANK YOU to 23,660 nurses, midwives and other front-line healthcare workers in Qatar

Qatar joined the world in honouring the indefatigable spirit of nurses and midwives by dedicating this year’s World Health Day to them amid coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The World Health Day is celebrated every year on April 7 to enhance global awareness on maintaining good health and a balanced lifestyle.

This year’s theme of “supporting nursing and midwifery staff” couldn’t be more apt as millions of nurses are leaving behind their comfort and safety to fight the COVID-19 crisis.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, 23,660 nurses and midwives are working in Qatar.

Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohammed al Kuwari said Qatar attaches great importance to the pivotal role the nurses and midwives play in in improving the country’s healthcare system.

In her statement, the minister expressed her gratitude to all healthcare personnel fighting to protect humanity from the coronavirus pandemic.
