Director Guy Ritchie’s film starring Jason Statham to start shooting in Doha today

Miramax and STXfilms' untitled action spy movie also stars Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes and Bugzy Malone.

Director Guy Ritchie’s upcoming untitled film is all set to start shooting in Doha today at a yet undisclosed location.

The film reunites Ritchie once again with action-thriller phenomenon Jason Statham, marking their second film together for Miramax following 'Wrath of Man', and will also feature Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes and rapper Bugzy Malone.

The action packed film will also continue shooting in Antalya, Turkey, according to an announcement.

beIN Media Group chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi commented, “Guy and Jason have repeatedly impressed audiences with their collaborations, and we're looking forward to bringing this production to the city of Doha, Qatar, a growing market in the entertainment and media space." 

Al-Khelaifi further stated that the film marks beIN’s third collaboration with Ritchie thereby adding to their expanding list of nearly 20 projects that have been released or are in currently in production since beIN's acquisition of Miramax.

beIN Media’s collaboration with Miramax is a testament of the group’s continued success in achieving target goals set forth for the studio's evolution while remaining committed to prioritizing investments in innovative and culturally relevant  movies, the group chairman added.

The action packed film revolves around MI6 guns-and-steel agent Orson Fortune  played by Statham who is recruited by a global intelligence agency to track down and put an end to the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world peace.

 

Much against his wishes Fortune is paired with CIA high-tech expert Sarah Fidel and sets off on a globe-trotting mission and exhibits his deadly charm and ingenuity a to track down and infiltrate the big bad world of billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds.

Ritchie has revised certain portions of the movie that he will direct and produce from a screenplay written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies ('The Gentlemen', 'Wrath of Man').

Atkinson will also co-produce along with Bill Block for Miramax, which is fully financing the film.

STX will distribute directly in the US, UK and Ireland and in the rest of the world through its network of international distribution partners.

Guy Ritchie's last movie 'The Gentlemen' with STX films grossed $115mn at box office globally, the statement added.
