 Qatar Ministry takes action against  97 people for not wearing masks in public

The Ministry of Interior has started cracking down heavily on people refusing to abide by Qatar’s laws meant to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Ministry of Interior (MoI) has acted against 97 persons for not wearing masks in public.

The official referred these individuals to the Public Prosecution for not wearing masks, which is mandatory as part of Covid-19 precautionary measures.

 

Till now 6,682 people have been referred to the Public Prosecution for not wearing masks and 277 people for not following the limit of people inside a vehicle, which is specified as 4 including the driver, except for the members of the same family.

As per a Cabinet decision and the Law No. 17 of 1990 regarding infectious diseases, and preventive measures, people who do not wear masks outside their homes may face penalties of up to three years in prison and/or QR200,000 in fine.
