When the customer complained about finding hairs in his burger, the food delivery company denied a refund and said it was a 'matter of personal taste'.

Finding a strand of hair in your food can often be a deal-breaker. In most cases, the restaurant is obliged to replace the order with a new one. However, when a fast-food customer from Norwich, UK found hairs in his burger, he was denied a replacement or refund because the strands of hair were apparently ‘a matter of personal taste’.

Darren Wood had ordered a bacon cheeseburger from fast food chain Byron through the food delivery app Deliveroo. But just when he was about to eat his food, Wood noticed several strands of hair on the burger, reported Metro.

However, when Wood complained to Deliveroo about the hair, the food delivery company refused a refund or a replacement. “I’m sorry to hear you weren’t happy with your order, however, I’m unable to offer a refund or credit as this is a matter of personal taste,” the customer services wrote in a message.

To which Wood replied, "I’m not sure having hair in your food is to anyone’s taste, to be honest."

Here’s a screenshot of the conversation between Wood and Deliveroo customer service:

After their conversation ended, Wood was informed that he was entitled to a refund of only £5 refund because his burger had arrived late.

“It was disgusting. I do understand these things can happen but to say it’s personal taste is hilarious. ‘They offered £5, two free deliveries, for it being late but said they wouldn’t do anything about the hair,” Wood told Metro.

A spokesperson from Deliveroo said that the company was shocked to know that a customer found hair in his food and offered their apologies. He also said that an investigation has been ordered in the matter.
