Qatar-Pakistan ties to strengthen further: Envoy

Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, has said that relations between Qatar and Pakistan will continue to strengthen.  

In an exclusive message to The Peninsula on Qatar National Day, the Ambassador said: “It gives me immense pleasure to felicitate Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Father Amir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Government and the people of the State of Qatar on the auspicious occasion of the National Day of Qatar.” 

Syed Ahsan Raza Shah (pictured) said that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar are marked by mutual respect and cordiality. “These relations are based on the foundations of shared faith, culture and heritage. The visit to Qatar by Prime Minister Imran Khan in January and by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Pakistan in June this year have further strengthened bilateral relations which have embarked upon a trajectory of even closer diplomatic, political and economic ties.”  

Pakistan, he said, has actively sought to enhance trade ties and more than doubled its exports in the last 2 years.  “The recently held 5th session of Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission will further enhance economic, trade and investment relations.” 

The Ambassador said that there is also significant interest at the Government and the private level in Qatar to invest in Pakistan. “In the recent past, both Qatar and Pakistan have begun to more clearly realize that they have shared interests and shared goals which are mutually beneficial.”

He said that the visa on arrival extended from both states is not only increasing people to people contact but is also facilitating business delegations and tourism in Qatar. “This ever-increasing interaction will give rise to new opportunities for cooperation between our people.”

“We are thankful to Qatar for the assistance it has provided in difficult times. We also resolve to standby Qatar.


Pakistani community living in Qatar serves as a living bridge between Pakistan and Qatar. They have proudly participated in the development of Qatar. We are grateful to the leadership and people of Qatar for hosting around 170,000 Pakistani diasporas,” the Ambassador of Pakistan noted. 

Raza Shah said that he was confident that relations between the two states would continue to strengthen. “I avail this opportunity to congratulate the leadership of Qatar on its vision and leadership in this regard. We join our Qatari brothers in the festivities of the National Day. Once again, I extend my profound felicitations and express best wishes of the people of Pakistan that the State of Qatar may continue on its path of progress and prosperity.”
