OWWA magbibigay ng pinansyal na ayuda para sa OFWs

Makakatanggap na ng tulong pinansiyal mula sa Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ang tinatayang 20,000 stranded at displaced Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Sa ginanap na Laging Handa briefing, nangako si Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac na ire-release na sa susunod na linggo ang ikatlong bugso ng ayuda para sa mga OFW’s.

Ayon kay Cacdac, una nang napagkalooban ng one-time cash assistance ang nasa 320,000 na Pinoy abroad at maging ang ilang napauwi na sa bansa.

Sinabi ng opisyal na patuloy silang tatanggap ng mga aplikasyon ng mga OFW’s hanggang sa katapusan ng taong kasalukuyan, batay na rin sa itinatakda sa ilalim ng Bayanihan 2.

A total of 2,000 dependents of repatriated, displaced or deceased overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are eligible for the grant of financial aid, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Friday.

Sa isang ulat sa Republic of the Philippines News Agency, may kabuuang 2,000 dependents ng repatriated, displaced or deceased overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) ang eligible para sa financial aid grant, ayon sa Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) nitong nakaraang Biyernes.

Dagdag ini Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac na ang mga beneficiaries ay makakatanggap ng one-time PHP30,000 grant para sa college education ng mga anak at dependents ng mga OFW under Tabang OFW program.

“The Tabang OFW program which is essentially a financial aid program for collegiate level dependents of returning OFWs affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). We rolled out last week, we began last week and so far we have around 2,000 approvals already of scholars,” ayon kay Cacdac sa  Laging Handa briefing.

Ayond din sa kanya, natapos na nila ang screening ng mga beneficiaries.

“There will be payouts that will commence over the weekend and this coming week. We will release the financial aid which is also timely to areas affected by typhoons, the college dependents of returning OFWs displaced due to Covid-19,” a niya.

Sinabi din nito na ang programa ay isang joint effort ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), OWWA, and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) sa panunguna ni Senator Christopher "Bong" Go.

Iniulat din nito na sinimulan na inihahanda na ang Tulong Puso program noong isang linggo, kung saan mamimigay ito ng PHP150,000 hanggang PHP1 million grant sa mgaOFW groups.

“It is a group livelihood program where OFWs has to form either corporations, workers association or cooperative. They need to come with a business proposal and they will be given an initial grant amounting to PHP150,000 to PHP1 million,” he said.

Bukod sa group livelihood program, ang OWWA ay nagbabahagi ng entrepreneurship training para sa mga OFWs.

Ang OFW Reintegration through Skills and Entrepreneurship (OFW RISE) Programa Ay naglalayon na magbahagi sa mga OFW-participants ng access sa web-based training on basic entrepreneurship and practical business coaching, enable them to develop their business idea, and implement the same through livelihood assistance and other micro financing programs.

Ang nasabing initiative ay sa pakikipag-ugnayan ng labor department, kaagapay ang OWWA atNational Reintegration Center for OFWs; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority; Philippine Trade Training Center and Coca-Cola Philippines.
