MoI to unveil P-2-P system to control speeding on main roads & highways

Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs and Operations Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh has discharged 18 new patrol vehicles to monitor speed limits of drivers on primary streets and highways, reports Al-Seyassah daily. 

General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at Ministry of Interior clarified that the Director of Operations Department at General Traffic Department Colonel Yousef Al-Khudah gave a detailed clarification about these patrol vehicles. 

He said they are introduced with a Point-to-Point (P2P) system which catches picture of the violating vehicles and their number plates on the front and backsides. It additionally calculates the time taken by a vehicle starting with one point then onto the next. 

 

In the event that the vehicle takes shorter time than the normal time evaluated for the distance based on the allowed speed limits, it implies the vehicle had covered that distance at a high speed. Colonel Al-Khudah revealed that the P2P framework will be implemented on Jan 20 this year on Abdali Road from Kilo Mark 0 to Kilo Mark 80. 

Major General Al-Sayegh certified the keenness of General Traffic Department to apply endeavors in guaranteeing the systems are upgraded with the point of giving fundamental security to the road users and controlling the traffic so as to limit mishaps and resultant casualties. 

He stressed on that the P2P consists of eight smart cameras that are introduced on Abdali Road, showing that the expansion in the increase of cameras has contributed in reducing the number of car crashes in the year 2018 by six percent contrasted with the year 2017.
