Qatar has seen increase of Covid-19 cases from newly tested people

The record of confirmed coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Qatar climbed to 31,951 and this is due to the increase of number of people being tested positive in the last few days.

Yesterday, there were 250 newly detected cases of Covid-19 and  16 more people had recovered from the disease in the country, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced.

The State has seen an increase in the number of confirmed cases within few days as the number of people being tested has significantly increased, according to Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Co-Chair of the National Pandemic Preparedness Committee and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation.

Dr. Al Khal told Qatar TV yesterday:

“The capacity of central laboratory has increased from 700 to 1000 tests per day to 3,500 tests per day within last 24 hours.”

He mentioned that the additional tests have helped in detecting more cases. According to him, more infected cases are observed from travellers coming from Europe and America.

He said:

"Therefore, I call upon all those quarantined in hotels to be cautious. They must adhere to health guidelines.”

The Ministry has conducted 3,538 laboratory tests yesterday. 

By yesterday, Qatar has announced a total of 109 people who had recovered from the disease. Currently, the total number of positive Covid-19 cases recorded in the country is 1,325. A sum of 1,213 active cases are undergoing necessary treatment.
