DOHA: Qatar Shell and Qatar Football Association (QFA) have launched the 8th season of Koora Time, the sustainable initiative that has improved the health and wellbeing of over 100,000 youth across Qatar since its inception in 2012.

A two-day coaching seminar was organised at Aspire Academy in preparation for the new season.

The seminar, which kicked off on October 25, focused on various topics, ranging from the initiative’s philosophy and mission and how to prepare and lead a session, to Koora Time’s bank of activities and promoting and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits.

A total of 180 coaches attended the seminar, taking advantage of the opportunity to enhance their knowledge-base and teaching skills.

Season 8 will run from 27 October 2019 to 25 April 2020. This season, the programme will run in 35 venues including 31 schools across Doha, with more than 3,500 students expected to participate on weekly basis.

In season 7, 95% of participants improved their Body Mass Index (BMI), an internationally recognised measure of height and weight, using nutritional education and other support to ensure a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing.

The initiative is based on FC Barcelona Foundation’s FutbolNet methodology, and provides children with an extra 72 hours of extra-curricular physical education per year.

The programme, which runs sessions at Aspire during weekends, is open for boys and girls aged 6-17 years on a free-of-charge basis. To find out more about Koora Time, or to register your child for the award-winning and impactful programme, please visit www.kooratime.qa.
