Lionel Messi broke another Champions League record last night in Barcelona’s 4-0 win against PSV Eindhoven. The Argentine inspired the Catalans to an easy win against the Dutch giants at the Camp Nou. Barcelona have been drawn in a tough group alongside PSV, Tottenham and Inter Milan but they’re heavy favourites to progress to the last-16. And it’s no wonder they’re one of the favourites for the competition when they have Messi in their side.

The 31-year-old opened the scoring against PSV and then added another two to complete his hat-trick after Ousmane Dembele had doubled Barcelona’s lead. Incredibly, it’s the EIGHTH hat-trick that Messi has scored in the Champions League. It means he now holds the record outright for most hat-tricks in the competition, one more than arch rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
