20 People killed in foiled Brazil bank assaults

20 People including five hostages,child were killed after police foiled a gang of armed robbers staging simultaneous pre-dawn assaults on two banks in northeast Brazil on Friday, reported ChannelNewsAsia.

Four of the hostages, including the child, were from the same family. They had been coming back from nearby airport when some of the robbers seized them, as per the local mayor, Lielson Landim, told the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper.

The secretary for security in the province of Ceara, said in an explanation that an examination was being completed to recognize those killed and the conditions of their demises. 

Costa did not say whose shots murdered the hostages. Landim had before said that, in light of initial information, he comprehended that "the criminals killed the hostages and the police murdered the criminals."

Two suspects were captured, as indicated by Costa's office. 

"A vigorously armed group arrived base in the town in the early hours and went to the focal point of town, where they endeavored to carry out the crime.

There was a trade of fire between the suspects and police," it said. It said six members of group were killed and "another six individuals died from shots." 

The character of the twelfth injured individual was not instantly clear. Different weapons and explosives and in addition three vehicles utilized in the bank attacks were recouped.
